Performers

Here is a list of some of the performers who have recently appeared in Cats or are currently in Cats on Broadway.

                      
Jean Arbeiter
(Jellylorum/Griddlebone)- is thrilled to be making her Broadway debut in the role she performed in the national tour of Cats. Other credits: Thetis in The Greeks, I & II at thev Alley Theatre and many opera credits from Minnesota Opera and the National Opera Co. Jean studies singing with Craig Carnelia and acting with Barbara Marchant.

Silvia Aruj (Tantomile)- has made it to Broadway all the way from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Theatre: Comedy of Errors, Can-Can, Evita, Cats (Argentina), 42nd Street, Molly Brown, NY credits: Nightmare Alley, What the World Needs Now. TV: "Hola Susana" (3 years, Argentina). For Lidia, Ricardo, Alberto and Alerga, my incredible family.

Linda Balgord (Grizabella)- has starred in 2 national tours of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals. Most recently she played Norma Desmond in the 1st national tour of Sunset Boulevard, directed by Trevor Nunn. She also starred as Rose Vibert in Aspects of Love, directed by Robin Phollips. On Broadway, Miss Balgord was featured in the original cast of the Sondheim/Lapine musical Passion. She created the role of Violet Chandler in the American premiere or The Fix, new musical produced by Cameron Mackintosh and directed by Eric D. Schaeffer. She has made concert appearances at Carnegie Hall and Whitehall Palace in London. Her regional credits include leading roles in Funny Girl, Evita, and Man of La Mancha. Miss Balgord has as B.A. from Viterbo College and an M.F.A. from the Professional Theatre Training Program at University of Delaware.

Stephen Bienskie (Rum Tum Tugger)- Credits include Cal in the signature Theatre of VA/Cameron Mackintosh's American premiere of The Fix, and The Marilyn Manson inspired Leopard in Just So at Godspeed's Norma Terrace Theatre. Other credits include Buddy in The Last Session, Jake in Zombie Prom, and the 1st national tour of The who's Tommy. Alan Strang in Equus and singer/songwriter for several rock bands performing such venues such as CBGB's and The Bitter End.

Jacob Brent (the old Mistoffelees)- played Mistoffelees in the film of Cats which is available on video. He also has the thrill of playing the role when the company broke the record for longest running B'way show. Before that, he was in the original Las Vegas company of Starlight Express. He's a graduate of N.C. School of the Arts.

Tesha Buss (Rumpleteazer)- B'way debut. Other credits include Gypsy (Paper Mill Playhouse) starring Betty Buckley, Sandy Duncan's understudy in That's Christmas. Chicago credits include Gypsy, Dainty June; 42nd Street; Hello, Dolly! and Treasure Island, the parrot.

Celina Carvajal (Demeter)- joins the Broadway company of Cats after appearing in the national tour. She was born into a family of artists in San Fransisco and is a graduate of the School of Arts. Celina has studied classical ballet, piano, and for 5 years was a member of the Teen Musical Theatre Company of San Fransisco.

J. P. Christensen (Skimbleshanks)- returns to B'way co. of Cats after performing the role of Skimbleshanks in the national tour. Other: featured singer for the National Christmas Tree Lighting at the White House, radio City Spectacular, Joffrey Ballet Concert Dancers, Tokyo Disneyland, Walt Disney World and numerous productions at Pittsburg CLO.

Marlene Danielle (Bombalurina)- was seen as Anita in the Broadway revival of West Side Story and Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors. Other credits: Fort Apache, the Bronx; Tootsie; choreographer/principal of national commercial.  She has supplied the voices of many animated characters, and is on the Atlantic recording Christmas Eve and Other Stories, and the new sequel The Christmas Attic.

Ramon Flowers (the old Coricopat) is happy to join the Cats co. after making his B'way debut in Swan lake, and has performed as Richie in A chorus Line (national tour), a featured dancer with Cindy Lauper, Pennsylvania Ballet (corps), Bejart Ballet (soloist), Frankfurt Ballet (soloist), Compana Nacional de Espana (principal).

Michael Gruber (the old Munkustrap)- was Munkustrap in the Cats video, and new credits include The Tin man in The wizard of Oz, Mike in a Chorus Line, Miss Saigon, My Favorite Year, and Little By Little. Regional: Young Ben in Follies, Paper Mill; Don in Singin' in the Rain (cast recording); Bill in Kiss Me, Kate; Jud Fry in Oklahoma! and Tom in Good News (cast recording).

Angel Caban (standby, old Demeter)- comes from the national tour of Joseph. Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include Joseph, Hunchback, and Blocks.

Lynne Calamia (Cassandra) - Broadway Chicago (June) Tours: Chicago, Applause. graduate of SUNY Purchase.

Lenny Daniel (Alonzo)- B'way debut! New York/tour: Wizard of Oz, Wonderful Town (NYC Opera). Other national tours: Jekyll & Hyde (pre B'way). European Tours: West Side Story and Hello, Dolly!; Evita and Gigi (Paper Mill). 

Jeffry Denman
(Munkustrap)- comes directly from off-Broadway's If We Were All. he appeared in How To Succeed...(Bud Frump) and Dream on Broadway  and starred in A Foggy day at the shaw Festival.

John Dewar (Bustopher Jones/Asparagus/Growltiger)- B'way: Les Miserables, Cats, Aspects of Love, Phantom of the Opera. L.A.: beauty and the Beast. Off Off-Broadway:Taming the Shrew, Importance of being Earnest.

Christopher Gattelli (the old Pouncival)- Broadway /Tours: How to Succeed, Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Evita, Cats (Mistoffelees) Betty Buckley at Carnegie Hall, Grand Prize winner at Star Search.

Roger Kachel (Mungojerrie)- is celebarating 11 years of involvement  with the musicals of ALW including 4 companies of Cats and the Broadway Production of starlight Express. Regional credits include Evita, A Chorus Line, Anything goes, Price of Central Park, Film: Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Stayin' Alive.

Hans Kriefall (the old Alonzo)- Broadway debut. Credits include national tours of A Chorus Line and Jesus Christ Superstar as well as Cats in Hamburg. He is a graduate of Princeton University, where he performed with the Triangle club.

Craig Ricks (the old Bustopher Jones/Asparagus/Growltiger)- is making his Broadway debut in Cats. He comes to this company after 17 months in the national tour playing Gus/Growltiger.

Missy Lay Zimmer (Victoria)- is thrilled to be joining the Broadway company after finishing the national tour. Other credits include Jesus Christ Superstar Anniversary tour, NY Knicks city dancer, music videos, commercials and film.

Maria Jo Ralabate (Sillabub)- played the role of Rumpleteazer for 2 and a half years. Her career has taken her all over the world: Cats Zurich and the U.S. national tour (Rumpleteazer), Lotte World in Seoul, Korea and industrials in Hawaii. Other credits: Godspell, Hello, Dolly! (Ermengarde). She studied dance at the University of Buffalo.

Susan Somerville (standby, Cats chorus)- is happy to back with Cats on B'way. Credits: Cats tour; 40 productions including Nunsense (Amnesia), Dames at Sea (Ruby), and Do Patent Leather Shoes....? (Becky). 

Jimmy Lockett
(Old Deuteronomy)- attended Julliard School (Composition). Broadway: Big River Off-Broadway: Little Shop of Horrors. National and international tours: Little Shop of Horrors, Big River, Starlight Express, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Cats.

Amy L. Hamel (standby, old temporary Bombalurina)- B'way debut. A native of West Palm Beach, Amy comes to Cats directly from the national tour. Favorite rolls include Bombalurina and Rumpleteazer in Cats; Chava in Fiddler on the Roof; and Nannette in No, No Nannette. Other credits: Oklahoma, Sugar Babies, and Hair.

Melissa Miller (standby, old temporary Victoria)- is thrilled to be making her Broadway debut with Cats. She has performed for both the Hamburg and U. S. touring company of Cats. Other credits include The Music Man, Seven Bridges for Seven Brothers, and sailing with the seas for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Patrick Mullaney (old Tumblebrutus)- A native of Chicago, Patrick danced worldwide with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre. Other credits:   The Daring Project (NY) Pittsburg Civic Light Opera, and North Carolina Theatre.

Owen Taylor (the old Skimbleshanks)- has a B.F.A from Julliard and and M.F.A. from NYU. Last seen on Broadway in Candide, Owen seen in national commercials and on PBS as Dr. Belljar in "Where in Time is Carmen San Diego?".

Sharon Wheatley (Jennyanydots)- is thrilled to join the Cats family. B'way: Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera. National Tours: Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, The Sound of music. Education: The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Sharon enjoys being the only actress to perform in all 3 blockbusters Cats, Les Miz, and Phantom on B'way!

Julius Sermonia (Mistoffelees)- is thrilled to make his professional theatre debut with Cats. He comes from the national tour of Cats.

Keith Edward Wilson (Plato/Macavity/Rumpus Cat)- Broadway debut. National Tour: Hello, Dolly! with Carol Channing. Cats, Hamburg. Disney Cruise Lines, dance captain/swing. 7 seasons at the St. Lois Muny.
